Maw Fined for Montana Hunting

A Kenai Peninsula drifter and former Board of Fish nominee has been fined $7,245 after the State of Montana looked into his residency claims.

 

Roland Maw plead no contest to 7 charges he claimed Montana residency for hunting and fishing licenses while he was an Alaskan resident.

 

The court order was filed May 14 in Beaverhead County, Montana. The courts say Maw purchased Montana resident licenses from 2008-2014. Added to the fine, Maw was banned from hunting, fishing, or trapping in Montana or Alaska for 18 months.

 

The charges came to light in late February, after Maw had been nominated to the Board of Fish by Governor Bill Walker.

 

Maw withdrew his name from consideration February 20 as the first emergency closures for Cook Inlet were announced…
