Governor Bill Walker will present his proposed budget and fiscal plan for the state of Alaska in Juneau this Thursday.
Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Mike Navarre says he was invited Tuesday and will be traveling to Alaska’s capital city for that presentation.
Mayor Navarre: “It’s something that I have been monitoring and involved with and I’m going to stay involved with it because it has huge impacts to the economy, the State of Alaska, the Kenai Peninsula and to the budgets of all local governments and communities and will affect a lot of different things if it’s not handled and managed properly.”
The state is facing a $3.5 billion deficit in the coming year and the governor has been hosting statewide community brainstorming sessions for the upcoming budget cycle.
