A new UAA outdoor track record in the 800M by nearly a second and a half, and an automatic qualifying position to the NCAA Division II national track & field championships; all accomplished by Danielle McCormick in a matter of 2:06.17.

 

Dani McCormick, University of Alaska junior and 2015 Soldotna High School graduate and multiple state track champion for the Stars. set another UAA record in the 800M recording the fastest outdoor 800M for UAA at the Triton Invitational held at the University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, California.

 

McCormick won the Triton Invitational 800M event racing to a 2:06.17 in the event’s  section one of nine sections.  McCormick topped a field of 68 Division I, Division II, running club and unattached runners, posting the fastest 800M time in UAA women’s outddoor track history.

 

McCormick holds the UAA indoor and outdoor records in the 800M.  Earlier this outdoor season, McCormick bested previous 800M record holder Ivy O’Guinn’s mark of 2:09.34 (O’Guinn ran for Skyview High School before competing for UAA).   McCormick also holds the seventh fastest 400M time for UAA and is a member of the fastest UAA 4X400M relay team.
