The December 7th deadline for Alaskans to review and make changes to their Medicare Part D prescription drug plans is quickly approaching.
Terry Snyder, AARP Alaska’s State President…
Snyder: “You may know that you can switch to a different prescription-drug plan during open enrollment. When selecting a plan, you should consider whether a plan covers your prescription needs, works with your pharmacy, and has a pricing structure that’s right for you. Your medication needs can change so this is the time to check and see if your prescription drug plan still works for you.”
Officials have emphasized the importance of reviewing and comparing plans this year because plan premiums along with medication costs are trending upward; some plan premiums that did not have an annual deductible in past years have increased to over $300.
Medicare also charges penalties if seniors do not enroll when immediately eligible.
Alaskans enrolled in Medicaid and Medicare have the option to enroll or change plans at any time.
