Do you have health insurance coverage through Medicare? The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reminds Alaskans that Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage Plans open enrollment has begun.
According to Alaska DHSS, now’s the time to check whether your current prescription drug plan is working for you. If you currently have other prescription insurance, you may not need Medicare Part D.
Available plans change each year, so compare your options for the best value. You can enroll in, change or drop your prescription drug plan between October 15 and December 7 of this year.
Enrollees in Alaska should have already received a form notifying any changes to benefits, as well as, information on what’s being offered by plans for next year.
If one does nothing during the enrollment period, the individual will remain in the plan he or she is currently on. But it’s important to be aware of what, if any, changes are happening with your Medicare plan.
For those needing help deciding which plan is best for you, Alaskan’s are encouraged to call Alaska’s Medicare Information Office at 907-269-3680, toll free in Alaska at 800-478-6065 for help with Medicare-related questions or visit medicare.gov.
