A single run in the first inning proved all the Peninsula Oilers could produce on Saturday night at Herman Brothers Field in Palmer as the Oilers fell to the AB leading Mat-Su Miners 5-1.

Trey Becker and Willie Schwarick each collected a pair of hits and Schwarick recorded an RBI for the Oilers.  Starting pitcher Max Miller allowed two runs in three innings; Mose Hayes, in relief, allowed three runs in four innings.  Oilers pitchers walked eight Miner batters.

The Oilers travel back to Mulcahy Park for a Father’s Day afternoon game against the Anchorage Bucs scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Oilers home opener, following 14 games on the road, is set for Wednesday, June 22nd at Coral Seymour Memorial Park with a scheduled 6 p.m. first pitch.
