The Alaska Baseball League leading Mat-Su Miners are better than all of the ABL teams at the mid-way point of the 2022 ABL season; but not much better than the Peninsula Oilers.

The Oilers battled the Miners to a 4-3 Miners victory on July 4th; the Miners take four of five games from the Oilers by a total point spread of 19 (Miners) – 17 (Oilers).  The Oilers fell by one run in three of the games, by two runs in game four and won 8-5 in game three.

Miners 4 – Oilers 3

Mat-Su scored three runs in the third inning to open a 3-0 lead in Monday’s final game of the five-game series at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  The Oilers answered with two runs in the bottom of the third to draw to 3-2 Miners.  The Miners game-winner came in the top of the fifth inning on a walk and a air of singles.

In the eighth inning, The Oilers scored on a Casey Burnham RBI single plating Cole Jordan, who reached on an error.  In the ninth, Graiden West was caught stealing after reaching on an error prior to a walk issued to Noah Henning which would have set up the Oilers with runners on first and second with only one out.  Final Score: Miners 4, Oilers 3

The Peninsula Oilers have two off-days before opening a home series against the Chugiak-Eagle River  Chinooks on Thursday, July 7th at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
