The Peninsula Oilers opened a five-game, home series against the Alaska Baseball League leader Mat-Su Miners at Coral Seymour Memorial Park with a familiar one-run loss and missed opportunities.

The Oilers ran themselves out of at least three innings and left bases loaded in the first inning in a 3-2 loss to the Mat-Su Miners on Thursday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
The Oilers loaded the bases in the first inning with one out and failed to deliver an opening run. The Oilers, in the ninth inning, advanced the lead-off man to third base and left Dalton Bowling stranded on the final out. Knolton Clark opened with five innings allowing three runs (two earned) and taking the loss. Blake Reilly threw four solid innings in relief allowing only one hit and striking out five Mat-Su batters.
Mat-Su improves to 16-6 and the Oilers fall to 5-12 in the ABL.
