Miners Pitching Holds Oilers In Check

The Peninsula Oilers final regular season game of their current road trip through the Alaska Baseball League ended similar to many others with the Oilers stranding runners on base and struggling to provide run-support for the pitching staff, the Oilers falling to the Mat-Su Miners 4-1 in ABL action on Thursday.

 

The Peninsula Oilers will play exhibition games against the Anchorage Bucs and the Mat-Su Miners on Friday and Saturday as part of the ABL Scouts Showcase at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.

 

Mat-Su 4  – Oilers 1

The Oilers posted an early 1-0 lead into the third inning with John Hanley scoring on a Miner’s error.  Mat-Su built a 4-1 lead with runs in the third, sixth, seventh and eight innings.  Final Score: Miners 4 -Oilers 1

ABL Scouts Showcase

The Alaska Baseball League Scouts Showcase weekend features all five Alaska League teams in action at Mulcahy Park with an opportunity to play in front of major league baseball scouting personnel on Friday and Saturday, July 9th & 1oth.

The Oilers play in the middle game each day with games scheduled for 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7 p.m.
