Miners Sweep The Oilers In ABL Playoffs

The Peninsula Oilers were eliminated in the first round of the ABL Playoffs in Palmer against the Mat-Sun Miners.

 

Saturday, August 3rd

The Oilers were shut out against the Mat-Su Miners on Saturday, August 3rd, in the first game of the ABL playoffs in Palmer.

 

It was a quiet first few innings for the Oilers until Cole Robson doubled in the fourth inning but did not make it home.

 

The Oilers put two more on in the game but did not bring them home. Mat-Su’s  R. Schow singled, RBI; C. Wilcox advanced to third; B. Balsz scored. K. McCauslan flied out to lf, SAC, RBI; C. Wilcox scored. The Miners would add one more run in the fourth C. Wilcox doubled, RBI; B. Balsz advanced to third; K. Strohmeye scored.

 

Final: Miners 3 – Oilers 0

 

Sunday, August 4th

The Mat-Su Miners advanced in the ABL playoffs over the Peninsula Oilers on Saturday, August 4th.

 

The Miners opened the game with two runs in the first inning. D. Patrizi singled, 2 RBI; K. McCauslan advanced to second; R. Schow scored; C. Wilcox, C. Wilcox. R. Cochran reached on a fielder’s choice, RBI; C. Perez out at second 2b to ss; D. Patrizi advanced to third; K. McCauslan scored. Miners 3 – Oilers 0

 

In the top of the fourth, C. Wilcox for the Miners singled, RBI; K. Strohmeye advanced to third; R. Cochran scored. C. Wilcox stole second and advanced to third on an error by c; K. Strohmeye scored unearned.R. Schow singled; C. Wilcox scored unearned. Miners 6 – Oilers 0

 

The Peninsula Oilers in the bottom of the seventh, Zac Farris grounded out to ss, SAC; Cole Dawson advanced to third; Petey Soto scored, unearned.

 

Final: Miners 6 – Oliers 1

 

The Peninsula Oilers end the season with a 23 – 17 record before the ABL playoffs.

 

According to the Peninsula Oilers, plans are in place for a 51st season in 2025.
