Missing Seldovia Man Found Dead In Submerged Vehicle, Following Search And Rescue Efforts

Missing 83-year-old Seldovia resident Roger Wallin Sr. was found deceased in his car after search and rescue efforts led the dive team to a submerged vehicle near Seldovia pier.

 

On Monday, March 31, at 8:30 p.m., the Seldovia VPSO notified Alaska State Troopers that Wallin was missing. The VPSO and Seldovia residents then began searching the community.

 

The following day, search team members located a vehicle that appeared to be Wallin’s submerged in approximately 30 feet of water near the Seldovia pier.

 

Troopers began working to deploy a dive team to Seldovia to determine if Wallin was in the submerged vehicle.

 

On Wednesday, volunteers from the Alaska Dive Search, Rescue, and Recovery team were able to dive and inspect the submerged vehicle. They located Wallin deceased inside.

 

Efforts to recover the vehicle are ongoing.

 

Next of kin have been notified.
