Remains found near Sterling during the Funny River Fire have been identified as a Soldotna man who had been missing since 2011.
The remains were positively identified as James Beaver who was reported missing from the Soldotna area on March 4, 2011.
Beaver’s next of kin have been identified.
The human remains were found near Sterling by a Funny River Fire crew on June 1, 2014 and reported to the Alaska State Troopers.
The remains appeared to have been in the location for several years and troopers found no identifying items.
The bones were photographed, collected, and sent to the State Medical Examiner.
