The second week of May features 14 soccer contests, seven softball games, six baseball pairings and both the SoHi Tri-Meet and the Kenai Peninsula Borough Track & Field Meet; ad action opened on Monday with baseball and soccer pairings.
Kenai Baseball 12 – Colony 8
The Kenai baseball team pounded-out six runs in the sixth inning inroute to a 12-8 victory over Colony in Southcentral Conference baseball action on Monday in Kenai. Colony opened with a four run, first inning; Kenai took a 5-4 lead after two innings. Paul Steffensen earned the win with 6 1/3 innings on the mound; Steffensen also collected four hits in four at-bats.
The Kardinals travel to Homer on Tuesday for a conference game against the Mariners, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. In other baseball action, the Soldotna Stars host Colony on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Soldotna Field.
