This year the Department of Fish & Game will be shifting the local moose hunting dates.
Area Management Biologist Jeff Selinger…
Selinger: “For moose, the general season moose hunt dates were moved to September 1 through 25. Same bag limit as last year, no more than a spike on one side, 50″ spread, or 4 or more brow tines on at least one side.”
The shift in seasons also impacts the archery-only season in unit 15A & B, which was moved to Aug 22-29.
Motorized transportation on the Lower Kenai Controlled Use Area was closed for moose hunting to September 16-19 and September 22-25.
In 2011, non-residents were denied hunting right in GMU 15A and C. Selinger said those rules have been relaxed…
Selinger: “This year, they are now allowing non-residents to hunt in 15C again. So they can hunt in 15C, 15B, and Unit 7 on the Kenai on-residents, for moose. Season dates are September 1 through 25. Same as our general season is.”
