On August 21, Alaska State Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a motorcycle near mile 4 of the Seward Highway.

At first the motorcycle pulled to the shoulder when directed to pull over but then accelerated and continued northbound.

After a brief pursuit the motorcycle stopped and the driver was identified as 36 year old Wesley Sherrill, who told the Trooper he had run because he had just consumed a beer and did not want another DUI.

Investigation determined Sherrill was not impaired due to alcohol although he admitted to possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of substance believed to be marijuana was found on him.

Sherrill was arrested for Second Degree Fail to Stop at the Direction of a Police Officer (Eluding) and Sixth Degree Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance. He was remanded at the Seward Jail with a $750.
