Jacob A. Brown appeared in court today for a variety of charges from an incident Tuesday night including failure to stop, resisting arrest, multiple counts of assault, and arson.
A bruised Brown appeared in custody at the hearing where Judge Sharon Illsley appointed him a public defender due to his unemployment.
She also informed him that if the state finds him guilty he may face maximum prison sentences for his current charges of first degree burglary, first degree arson, felony DUI, failure to stop under direction of an officer, driving without a license, failure to give notice of an accident, three counts of assault in the fourth degree, and resisting arrest.
As we previously reported, the incident Brown was arrested for started Tuesday night when officers responded to a domestic disturbance and followed Brown leaving the scene, eventually arresting him. Brown was taken to the hospital to be checked and used a lighter to light a blanket on fire which was quickly extinguished.
His preliminary hearing is set for April 7.
