Mustangs Stampede Kardinals In Non-Divisional Football Pairing

The Chugiak Mustangs overpowered The Kenai Kardinals, riding the 2016 Railbelt Conference Offensive Player of the Year Derryk Snell and 1st team Railbelt quarterback Hunter Harr to a 48-0 dismantling of Kenai in non-divisional football action on Friday night at Chugiak.

 

Chugiak 48 – Kenai 0

Snell set the tone on the Mustangs first play from scrimmage catching a 58-yard touchdown pass from Harr. For the game, Snell scored five touchdowns including: 52-yard reception, 24-yard reception, 4-yard run, 12-yard reception and 52-yard run.  Harr passed for four touchdowns and 147 yards on 7 of 8 passing.  Neither played beyond the middle of the third quarter.

 

The Kardinals managed only 74 yards rushing on 31 carries, lead by Titus Riddall with 51 yards.  Kenai turned the ball over on three interceptions and lost two fumbles.

 

Kenai trailed 34-0 at the half and following an opening drive for a touchdown by Chugiak, the mercy rule was invoked and a running clock was instituted for the remainder of the contest.

 

Next up for the Kardinals is a pair of NLC games; Kenai will host Palmer next Saturday for the Kardinals Homecoming and close the regular season at home against the Soldotna Stars.
