The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge has closed the gate on Mystery Creek Road and the Pipeline Corridor for the season as of Sunday, October 18.
Refuge Law Enforcement Supervisor Chris Johnson detailed what it’s typically used for.
Johnson: “It’s access to the Mystery Creek area, Chikaloon, for hunting grouse and water fowl and during moose season they hunt back there.”
Johnson says the road is still open to foot traffic but the changing seasons makes the road unpredictable for vehicles.
The Refuge typically checks for vehicles on the road before shutting the gate.
