Alaska EMS and the Department of Health would like to shine a spotlight on Philip Hofstetter, CEO of Petersburg Medical Center, for being selected as this year’s “Community Star” in Alaska for his dedication to rural health.

Phil moved to rural Alaska in 1998, where he found ‘his calling’ to serve rural communities. “Petersburg Medical Center makes a major difference by not only serving patients in the hospital but empowering health and wellness through collaborative partnerships, accessible care at home, health education and focus on activities of prevention and wellness,” says Phil. The “Power of Rural” in Alaska is the collaboration between emergency responders, clinics, hospitals and our communities.
