The 2018 Mount Marathon Race in Seward delivered a repeat, and first time winner on Independence Day. Jessica Yeaton won her first race in the women’s division, and David Norris, the 2016 race winner won his second race on Wednesday.
Yeaton finished with a time of 51:30, thirty seconds ahead of Seward’s Denali-Foldager Strabel, who finished second.
Norris also captured the men’s title while topping the runner-up by thirty seconds, outpacing Max King who finished second.
The boys junior division was won by Michael Connelly of Chugiak, at a time of 26.56 minutes. the 16-year-old edged Ali Papillon, the second place finisher.
Fairbanks native Kendall Kramer won the girls junior division title at 34:05 minutes. Kenai’s Riana Boonstra finished eighth at 38:11.
