The 2019 Kenai River Marathon, for the first time in race history, will feature a start location for the full marathon and half marathon at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex with the finish line at race central at the Kenai Visitor & Cultural Center.
Race Details
The Kenai River Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, September 29th and the event includes a full marathon, a half marathon, a relay marathon and a 5K Family Fun Run.
Race start time for the marathon events is set for 9 a.m. at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. The course for 2019 will include K-Beach Road, Bridge Access Road and designated courses running through the city of Kenai. The course for 2019 will not include the Kenai Spur Highway loop due to road construction. The 5K Family Fun Run will begin and end at the Kenai Visitor & Cultural Center with the start scheduled for 10:15 a.m. Sunday.
Pre-Registration & Bib Pick-Up
On Saturday, bib packet pick-up and a spaghetti feed are planned for the Kenai Visitor & Cultural Center (11471 Kenai Spur Hwy) from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Dinner served beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Participants will receive their race packet, be briefed on the course, and enjoy a spaghetti feed provided by the Kenai Little League (donations accepted).
Race Day bib pick up will be at the Kenai Visitor Center starting at 7 a.m. Bib pick up will NOT be an option at the start line.

Apple Bus Company is going to offer shuttle services from Kenai Visitors & Cultural Center to the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex on Sunday morning.
First Shuttle will leave KVCC at 7 a.m.
Second Shuttle will leave KVCC at 7:30 a.m.
Third Shuttle will leave KVCC at 8 a.m.

Kenai Marathon Race Results: Full Marathon
Homer’s Pedro Ochoa raced to a second-straight Kenai River Marathon men’s championship completing the 26.2 mile course in 2 hours, 53 minutes, 55 seconds; Ochoa improves his personal best time by 2:11 minutes. Anchorage’s Rob Dolan was runner-up at 3:14:52.
Palmer’s Christy Marvin lead the women’s field finishing in 3 hours, 4 minutes and 49 seconds. Anchorage’s Sara Bryan was in second at 3:37:37.
Kenai Marathon Race Results: Relay Marathon
The Marathon Relay event featured 10 teams and was won by team Am I Being Followed in 3:12:47 with team members Rustin Hitchcock, Patrick Metzger, Sean Goff and Joey Klecka.
Kenai Marathon Race Results: Half Marathon
The top female finisher in the Half Marathon was Eagle River’s Victoria Oxetenko in 1:40:32; Soldotna’s Susan Craig finished in 1:40:58.
Soldotna’s Dan McIntosh topped the men’s Half Marathon field completing the course in 1:20:50. Seward’s Patrick Lewis was second in 1:22:05.
Kenai Marathon Race Results: Handcycle
The Handcycle event sports a repeat winner with Anchorage’s Ira Edwards defending his title in a new personal best 2:08:38.
