The Central Peninsula Hospital’s new Chief Financial Officer started this week. KSRM chatted with Lance Spindler about his new position and what experiences make him the best qualified candidate.
Spindler: “I’ve been a hospital CFO several times before, both in the for profit and the not for profit and even in the governmental owned realm, I’ve been able to help troubled organizations, which certainly isn’t the case here, I’ve opened three hospitals from scratch and have been able to grow networks and provide more services to the community, all of these things are things I have done, I’ve actually been in the hospital business since 1978.”
He said he is looking forward to working with the staff of CPH and community members on a variety of projects.
Spindler: “We actually have a major expansion project here, with the medical space that’s being built here in the oncology wing and that’s an exciting adventure, we’re looking to partner with other health organizations to be able to serve more of the residents in the area and provide more services here in the Kenai Peninsula as opposed to having people have to travel out to Anchorage. Anything that I can do to make sure that on a financially stable basis we expand the services to our residents, that excites me.”
Spindler said he and his wife were only here for three days around the initial interview, they fell in love with the Kenai Peninsula and a few of their 11 children have already mentioned coming to check it out.
