New Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board Student Representative Maria Kulikov of Homer attended her first meeting last night.
Kulikov is currently a senior at Voznesenka but has gone to three other schools since her freshmen year and spoke about what got her interested in becoming the student representative.
Kulikov: “The students really, which is why when I got the chance to be student representative I thought ‘Yay, let’s do this!’ because a lot of the schools that I went to are completely unique from others, they have different programs, they have completely different cultures, different society views and going to each different one you get to know a lot about the students and how they react to different things and different tests and just being able to put their views into what the school board is doing right now just kind of interested me and I was really passionate about it.”
She also talked about her future plans.
Kulikov: “When I graduate I hope to do Language Arts and just arts in general because I like to do reading and writing and music.”
Kulikov’s position was approved by the board at the October 20 meeting.
