New Venue for Kenai River Festival a Success

The 24th annual Kenai River Festival was held in Centennial Campground last weekend, a new venue due to Soldotna Creek Park being off limits.

Executive Director of the Kenai Watershed Forum, Robert Ruffner said the new venue was great.

Ruffner: “I think in all aspects this was a fantastic venue, it worked really good, all the feedback I got was that everybody thought this worked out really well, they really enjoyed themselves and its really rewarding to me to see the kids leaving and happy kids and happy parents and its just a fantastic event and I’m honored to be able to help facilitate to put this on.”

There are only estimates as to how many people attended this years festival, however Robert Ruffner was impressed by the community spirit to help.

Ruffner: “The festival has grown and I think we had somewhere in the neighborhood of 180 volunteers this year that actually came out and actually really did something to help put this on, we can do the logistics and organize but we can’t do what needs to be done here without the support of all the other organizations, and I hesitate to list them but a couple: Boys and Girls Club, Caring for the Kenai, Cook Inlet Keepers.”
