The Soldotna Visitor’s Center experienced a drop in tourism during 2014 according to Michelle Glaves with the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce.

Glaves: “Visitor numbers that we helped in the visitor’s center itself was down a little bit and that was, as I reported last time, that was strictly from June. Our request for guides that we sent out was about on par with past years and we also reported on our information on our social media, that’s increasing and getting better and we have some plans to make that even better.”

She also said the chamber received 60,000 copies of the 2015 Visitor Guide this week.

Glaves: “We leave 20,000 of them in Anchorage for delivery in other parts of the state: in Anchorage, the airport, all the way from Tok to everywhere. So then we take the delivery of the rest of them here and distribute them from here, most of them are mailed out to folks that express interest in the area and want some more information on the area, the post office loves us we’re there almost every day.”
