The Nikiski Bulldog boys opened play at the 2022 Clarke Cochrane Christmas Classic in Ketchikan on Wednesday with an 88-47 loss to the host Ketchikan Kings.
The Kings opened quickly and built a 28-10 lead after one quarter and a 48-20 halftime advantage. Braeden Porter led the Bulldogs with 18 points and Charlie Chamberlain added nine points. Ketchikan’s Kyler Secrest led all scorers with 19 points.
Nikiski continues tournament play on Thursday with a 2:15 p.m. game against the Barrow Whalers. Barrow dropped a first-round game to Philomath, Oregon; listed as the #1 ranked team in Oregon 4A basketball entering the tournament at 7-0.
