Nikiski Boys Fall In Opening Round Battle With #1 Barrow

March Madness Alaska, the state championships for high school basketball, continues through Saturday with the 3A and 4A divisions competing at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.

3A Basketball State

Barrow 48 – Nikiski 31

The Nikiski boys basketball team battled #1 seed Barrow in the tournament’s first round on Thursday, falling to the Whalers 48-31.  The Bulldogs, down by ten at the half 21-11, pulled to within three points on the strength of four 3-pointers in the third quarter; however, Barrow pulled away for the victory.

Friday’s Tournament Pairings

The Bulldogs will face Delta ,Mid-Alaska Conference champion, in the 11:45 a.m. game on Friday.
