The Nikiski Community Council has scheduled time at their regular meeting to continue crime discussions.

Ann Krogseng organized the September 24 community meeting that brought out hundreds of Nikiski residents affected by thefts, vandalism, and property destruction.

Krogseng: “Well there’s been a lot of conversation since the meeting, both individually and on a larger scale, the troopers have made numerous arrests that have been reported to me in regards to getting people off the streets.”

She said the community council has set aside time in the meeting which will take place the Old Nikiski Center off of Island Lake Road tonight at 7 pm.

Krogseng: “I’ve invited elected officials and community members to participate in that open dialog, I think at the last meeting there was a lot of discussion about a variety of possibilities including a trooper substation, service area, sheriff station, people even talked about incorporation so there’s a lot of dialog going on and a lot of possibilities to help with this solution to this problem.”
