The Nikiski Firefighter Association will host a fundraiser for someone the community has likely hear of, even if his name isn’t recognized….
Harrison Deveer: “Most people know him as the Christmas lights guy over on Blueberry Avenue in Nikiski.”
That was Association President Harrison Deveer talking about John Klimpke, the man the fundraiser will be for.
Deveer says Klimpke has been an integral part of the community but has had a tough year with various medical issues.
Deveer: “We figured since he’s such a great member of the community and always has this great lighting setup for the community, it would be nice for us to come together as a community and help him out.”
The fundraiser will be a catered prime rib dinner and auction starting at 6:00 pm on December 3 at the Nikiski Recreation Center.
Deveer says right now the Association is looking for people to donate services and items that can be auctioned off during the event.
Donations can be brought to either Nikiski Fire Station.
