Division of Forestry along with Nikiski and Kenai Firefighters have contained a wildland fire along the Escape Route.
Agencies responded to that fire around 4 pm according to Division of Forestry’s Hans Rinke.
Rinke: “It was a one acre fire, started along the road there, we responded with two engines and our helicopter here along with Nikiski Fire Department and Kenai Fire Department. Right now the fire’s contained, we’ll be working the fire for the next few hours here and then bringing our resources back and checking in over the next few days.”
He said that although he has not seen the investigation reports from that fire yet, it was likely a human caused fire.
