Alaska’s high school basketball season crowned its final champions on Saturday at Anchorage Christian School with the ACS Lions winning both the girls and boys championships at the Southcentral Conference Basketball Championships.
The tournament marked the end of high school athletic competition for the foreseeable future and with the announcement from the Alaska School Activities Association (see revised press release on sports page) on March 14th, the end of the 2019-20 basketball season with the cancellation of all remaining conference tournaments and state basketball championships.

Girls Championship Game
The Anchorage Christian School girls completed their undefeated run through Alaska opponents, recorded their third-straight Southcentral Conference championship and as reigning three-time, 3A state champions legitimately claims the title of best 3A girls team in Alaska.
ACS Girls 88 – Nikiski 38
The Nikiski girls played aggressive, inspired basketball in the championship game against the Lions in the championship game, falling 88-38 to ACS.
Lillian Carstens lead Nikiski with 12 points, all scored in the second quarter. Nine different players scored in the championship game for Nikiski.
ACS was lead by 3A player of the year senior Destiny Reimers with 25 points and freshman Sayvia Sellers scored 18 points.
Boys Championship Game
ACS Boys 48 – Grace 46
J.D. McGee drilled a three-point basket in the final seconds to lift the Anchorage Christian School Lions over the previously undefeated in conference and top-seeded Grace Christian School 48-46 in the Southcentral Conference boys championships game on Saturday night. The Lions down Grace after dropping both conference games to the Grizzlies in the regular season. Josh Davis lead the Lions with 18 points.

Homer Girls 40 – Kenai Girls 30 3rd/5th Place Game
The Homer Mariner girls recorded a 40-30 victory over the Kenai girls in the 3rd-place game on Saturday. Homer lead throughout building a nine-point lead at the half (20-11) and a 16-point lead (33-17) after three quarters. Marina Carroll lead the Mariners with 16 points; Jayden Streiff topped the Kards with 11 points.
Kenai Boys 62 – Houston 56
The Kardinal boys backed-up their winning performance on Friday with a second-straight tournament victory, downing Houston 62-56 earning Kenai a 5th-place finish at the Southcentral Conference tournament.
Kenai trailed 32-27 at the half and took the lead late in the third quarter 44-43. Evan Stockton scored 20 points for Kenai; Braedon Pitsch scored 14 and Maison Dunham added 13 points.
