Nikiski & Kenai Close Regular Season With Victories

The Nikiski Bulldogs recorded their third Denali Conference victory and a 3-1 conference record; Kenai, 1-2 in the Mid Alaska Conference standings, downed Kodiak in non-divisional football to close out the regular season. Though both are in Division III football, Kenai advances to the playoffs and Nikiski does not.

The Kardinals earn the #3 seed from the Mid Alaska Conference; Nikiski finishes second in the Denali Conference; however, only #1 seed Monroe advances to the DIII playoffs.  Redington and Houston earn the top two seeds to the Division III playoffs.

 

Kenai 40 – Kodiak 6

The Kenai Kardinals tuned-up for the playoffs with a decisive 40-6 victory over Kodiak on Friday night in Kodiak.

Kenai’s offense was lead by Reagan Graves with three rushing touchdowns and quarterback Roc Riggle’s three passing touchdowns.  Wade James kicked a pair of field goals.

The Kardinals, #3 in the Mid Alaska, will travel to Houston to face the #2 Hawks in the Division III semi-finals.  Houston fell to Redington 46-6 in the Battle for the Bridge game on Friday at Redington.  The Huskies will host Monroe in a first-round playoff game.

 

Nikiski 42 – Seward 26

The Bulldogs highest point production of the season came on Nikiski’s final game of the season with the Bulldogs posting 42 points in a 42-26 Denali Conference victory over Seward on Friday night.

Nikiski scored three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns.  Seth Payne caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Brady Bostic, both 30 yards.  Bostic also threw a touchdown to Simon Grenier of 15 yards.  Dwyght Mulins rushed for a 30 yard touchdown and Stormer ran for a 2-yard touchdown.

Nikiski finishes with a 3-4 record, 3-1 in the Denali Conference.
