Nikiski Middle School Principal Michael Crain has been named Alaska Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) Region III Principal of the Year. Crain has served within the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District for three years.
KPBSD Superintendent Clayton Holland said Principal Crain exemplifies integrity in all he does.
“Principal Crane is a guy who really exemplifies that core value of the KPBSD that he’s going to hold true. He’s going to have integrity and do what’s best for our kids, for the staff, and for the community of Nikiski.”
AASSP sponsors regional and statewide Principal of the Year recognition awards to honor the educational leaders who play a pivotal role in student success. They may be nominated by anyone – students, staff, parents, district office staff, or principal peers – with awards finalized by AASSP members in their region.
Rick Dormer, AASSP President, stated, “Alaska Regional Principals of the Year are hard-working leaders who have made purposeful, positive impacts on the lives of students, staff, and the communities in which they work.”
Regional Principals of The Year are eligible to be in the running for the statewide Alaska Principal of The Year.
Superintendent Holland congratulated Crain on his recognition. “He makes us all proud for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. Mike Crane is a wonderful principal and an even better man. We’re thankful he is recognized as the Region 3 Principal of the Year.”
Each AASSP 2025 Regional Principal of The Year will be awarded and recognized at the 59th Annual Alaska Principals’ Conference in Anchorage.
