DOWL HKM surveyed wells in a target project study area in Nikiski last weekend in an effort to map groundwater travel per request of the Kenai Peninsula Borough.
DOWL Environmental Specialist Emily Creely said the community of Nikiski was incredibly helpful.
She said DOWL’s staff geologists, hydrologists, and survey crews will now process the collected well data.
Creely said DOWL HKM will schedule a meeting sometime around March to go over what the data shows.
As we previously reported, DOWL HKM’s Environmental Specialist Zach Huff said the project study area had a history of contamination so the borough received a grant from the State and contracted DOWL to survey, map, and create a model detailing the level, direction, and patterns of groundwater in that area.
