The Nikiski fabrication facility, owned and operated by the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, will close down operations in Nikiski and move operations to ASRC’s facility in Anchorage with in the next 60 days.  The Nikiski plant is operated by ASRC Energy Services.

According to a statement released by ASRC, the Nikiski facility which employs about 40 workers, will suspend operations and consolidate with the Anchorage fabrication facility in an effort to ” streamline its operations to be right-sized and competitive in this challenging economic environment”.  Senior Director of Communications Ty Hardt also stated that a steep decline in production and oil prices have sharply impacted ASRC’s bottom line.

Current employees at the plant may be eligible for transfer to the Anchorage fabrication plant or to positions elsewhere within ASRC Energy Services and the Alaska Support Industry Alliance.

ASRC purchased the Nikiski facility in 1997.  The Nikiski property includes a 26,000 square foot fabrication shop and warehouse, staff housing, office space, a dock, and parking area.
