The championship round for the 2015 Northern Lights Conference soccer tournament will feature a repeat of the girls championship game in 2014.
The Kenai Kardinal girls and SoHi girls will meet for the NLC title at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday on the Palmer field. Kard boys use overtime to advance to NLC championship game.
Friday Tournament Highlights
The Kenai Kardinal girls advance to the championship game with an extra time victory of the #1 seed from the North, Wasilla. Tied at 1-1 after regulation time, Kenai’s Heidi Perkins scored the game-winner for the Kards in the 96th minute for the 2-1 victory and a spot in the tournament championship game.
The SoHi girls shut out Colony in the semi-final game 3-0 on Friday to advance to the title game.
The boys championship game will feature the Kenai boys, after Kenai defeated Homer 2-1 scoring with four minutes left in the game’s second, 10-minute overtime period, Austin McKee scored the game winner to put the Kards into Saturday’s championship game at 4:00 p.m. at Palmer High.
The Colony boys recorded a 5-0 win over Grace to advance to Saturday’s boys title game.
