This year’s nominations for the First Lady’s Volunteer Awards are being accepted through mid-March to recognize fellow citizens who have performed extraordinary volunteer service. The annual awards recognize volunteers who engage in unpaid charitable activities, demonstrate personal commitment to long-term volunteer services, and significantly impact Alaskans.
First Lady Bella Hammond started the annual awards in 1975 to recognize and pay tribute to exceptional volunteers who make an extraordinary contribution to their community and state.
An executive committee comprised of Alaskan community members will select award recipients for their outstanding volunteer contributions. The recipients will be announced in the spring and recognized at a luncheon ceremony at the Governor’s residence in Juneau.

The 2025 nomination period closes Mar. 10.
Nominations can be submitted online.
Applications are also available at the Governor’s offices in Anchorage, Soldotna, Fairbanks, and Palmer.
