Revive Alaska Community Services has partnered with Alaska school districts to support the Child-in-Transition Program. As the COVID-19 pandemic begins to wane in Alaska, many families are still in need of daily assistance. There are more than 950 families who are in between homelessness and finding a permanent location for housing. Most of these children come from families that are facing hardships, challenges, loss of jobs, and life struggles.
Unfortunately, these children have been caught in a web of circumstances beyond their control.
Pastor Prince Nwankudu of Revive Alaska: “One of the needs that arose was this Child-in-Transition program through the Department of Education. The assistant commissioner happens to be in touch with all of these school districts and they have this need. So, they presented it in one of our meetings and we adopted it as an ongoing help that we can bring to children-in-transition and their families.”
He also says that contributions can be made in a number of ways, including by entire families: “One person can do it, a family can do it, in fact, we are encouraging families to team-up. The family can make it a family-to-family gift. A family is giving a family-in-need gift of a $50 gift card.”
To help change the lives of children and continue to show them hope, they are asking organizations and individuals across the state to partner with them by purchasing $50 gift cards from Fred Meyer through Revive Alaska. There are three different ways to partner when you go to Revive Alaska’s webpage: you can pledge to purchase the gift cards and personally mail them, donate money towards the gift card fund, or set up continual monthly support to see the needs in each region decrease.
