Conference Volleyball Tournaments Underway: Stars & Kards Drop Openers

The Northern Lights Conference Volleyball Tournament opened three days of competition on Thursday with a pair of upsets of the top two, seeded teams.

The Soldotna Stars, #2 seed in the NLC, fell in four games to Palmer 19-25,25-19, 25-17, 25-21.  The Colony Knights also recorded an upset over #1 seed Wasilla in three games.

The Kenai Kardinals fell to Colony in three straight in Kenai’s opening game.

The NLC tournament is a double-elimination tournament and all teams continue play on Friday at Wasilla High School.

Friday, the Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars will face-off in an elimination game at 11:00 a.m.  The winner will advance with a chance to qualify to the upcoming 4A state volleyball tournament; the loser will be eliminated from the tournament.

Southcentral Conference Vollleyball Tournament @ Houston

The bracket for the Southcentral Conference Volleyball Championships is set.  The Nikiski girls will be the #2 seed in the SCC tournament.  Based on seeding, Nikiski will open with a first-round pairing against Joe Redington at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.  The SCC tournament is a two-day, double-elimination format tournament.
