Over the weekend the Kenai Peninsula’s Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted two different stops which resulted in arrests and both were due to occupants not wearing seat belts.
On the evening of Friday, March 20, the law enforcement team stopped a green 1995 Chevy truck near mile 100 of the Seward Highway after seeing the passenger was not wearing his seat belt.
The driver was identified as 55 year-old Raymond Alby of Eagle River and investigation revealed he was driving under the influence of marijuana.
Alby was arrested and was transported to the Anchorage Jail where he was remanded for DUI and held on $250.00 bail.
Two days later, Sunday night, the Kenai Peninsula Bureau of Highway Patrol team stopped a white 1994 Ford Escort after observing the occupants not wearing seat belts.
One passenger was identified as 31 year-old Christopher Diehl of Kenai and found to have an outstanding felony no bail warrant from the Kenai Police Department.
That warrant stemmed from the original charge of robbery 1st, burglary 1st, assault 3rd, and misconduct involving weapons in the 3rd Degree.
He was arrested, taken to Wildwood Pretrial Facility and remanded without bail.
