The commute to and from the Kenai Peninsula just got more difficult as snow with high wind gusts is forecast overnight to tomorrow morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory was announced for Portage Valley and Turnagain Pass, including the cities of Whittier, Seward, Girdwdood and Moose Pass. The advisory is in effect from 11:00 p.m. this evening to 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
The National Weather Service calls for for snow and blowing snow with total accumulations of 6 to 12 inches with locally higher amounts. Visibilities could be reduced to a half mile or less at times in blowing snow with winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibilities.
