OEM To Train Organizations On Developing Emergency Plans

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the Kenai peninsula, the potential remains for the workforce within organizations, non-profits, businesses, and local governments to be impacted.  To assist those organizations with their Continuity of Operations Plan development and review process, the Borough Office of Emergency Management will be hosting a COOP virtual training tomorrow, July 21, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.

COOP training is about being ready, preparing to ensure that there is as little disruption as possible in the event of a disaster. Tuesday’s virtual training will be tailored to COVID-19 responses, rather than a broad-strokes outlook on all disasters.

An example question that organizations may need to ask themselves is, ‘Do we need more folks to be ready for remote connections?’ Distance working has become a regular part of 2020’s vocabulary, but took many organizations by surprise. The COOP training aims to help organizations evaluate what they have done so far during the public health emergency, and to then compare that with what they could do better next time with proper training.

There is no need to pre-register for the training. It will be conducted virtually via the Zoom platform and can be accessed by clicking this link. The Zoom Meeting ID is 993 9429 2311. The training can also be accessed via telephone using the same meeting ID by calling (888) 788-0099.
