On a night which started and ended in the rain, the Peninsula Oilers plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 6-3 lead over the Lake Erie Monarchs; then, the game was ended due to heavy rain and unstable playing conditions.

The Oilers improved to 5-1-2 in their first eight games of the season, all exhibition games.  The Oilers have an off-day on Tuesday before beginning a four-game series at home against the Oceanside Waves.

On Monday night in the Oilers 6-3 victory, Jordan Sanford went 3 for 4 and Josh Rose, 2 for 4 to account for five of the Oilers six hits.  Mitchell Daugherty, a local product from Sterling and formerly from Soldotna High School, pitched the seventh inning for the Oilers and earned his first decision as an Oiler, a win. as Daugherty was the pitcher of record when the Oilers took the lead and the game was halted.

The Peninsula Oilers open their final home-exhibition, four-game series on Wednesday, June 18 against the Oceanside Waves.  Wednesday is Oilers Booster Club Night-Free Admission for the 7:00 p.m. Oilers vs Waves game.
