Oilers Close ABL Season With 6-1 Loss To Chinooks

The regular season for the Alaska Baseball League and the Peninsula Oilers closed in Chugiak for the Oilers with a 6-1 loss to the Chinooks.  The remaining four teams in the ABL will begin the Top of the World tournament on Friday.

 

Chugiak Chinooks 6  – Oilers 1

The Peninsula Oilers managed only a single, fifth inning run in a 6-1 loss to the Chinooks on Thursday in Chugiak.

Andrew Sojka drove-in Lee Atkinson in the fifth inning; Atkinson opening the inning with a lead-off double.

Season Highlights

Garrett Pennington won two legs of the ABL triple crown and narrowly missed the Triple Crown Award.  Pennington lead the ABL in batting average at .336; home runs at 6 and finished with 22 RBI.  The Anchorage Bucs Diego Baqueiro recorded a single RBI on Thursday to take the RBI lead at 23.

Luke Yacinich, Oilers starting pitcher lead the ABL in wins with 5 wins in 2021.
