Men left stranded on base again struck the Oilers offense in a 5-2 loss to the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Saturday in the final home game of the regular season for the Oilers in Alaska Baseball League play.

Multiple times in the game against the Pilots, including a bases-loaded opportunity in the eighth inning, the Oilers proved unable to generate a big inning.  The Oilers trailed 5-0 though five innings.

The Oilers will finish the regular season on the road with a doubleheader against the Pilots on Wednesday, July 28 and a single game against the Chugiak- Eagle River Chinooks on Thursday, July 29.

Entering the final week of the regular season in the ABL, the Oilers stand at 12-25 and are currently in fifth place in the ABL and 2.5 games behind the Anchorage Bucs for the final playoff position into the Top of the World tournament.  The Oilers will need to win-out and the Bucs loss their remaining games for a chance at the playoffs (note: league standings are unofficial with a couple of games outstanding).

The Oilers travel to the Pilots on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Mulcahy Park scheduled for 5:00 p.m. for game one.
