The Peninsula Oilers, like three other teams in the Alaska Baseball League, can not seem to stay above the .500 mark in the ABL standings; the Oilers dropping the final game of a rain-soaked, road trip in Anchorage on Thursday at Mulcahy Park.
The Oilers fell to the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 10-2. A two-run, first inning for the Oilers looked promising; however, that proved to be all of the offense on the day for the Peninsula Oilers.
With an off day on Friday, the Oilers stand at 10-11 in the ABL. The Anchorage Bucs, Chugiak Chinooks and Glacier Pilots are all also under .500, with the Mat-Su Miners in first place at 13-9.
The Oilers host the Miners in a weekend, home series with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m. and a single game on Sunday scheduled for 2:00 p.m. All three games are free admission with sponsors buying out the ballpark both Saturday and Sunday.
