Oilers Drop 4-1 Decision To Chinooks: Ready For Full Weekend Of Promotional Games

The Peninsula Oilers again out-hit an opponent, left too many men on base and came up short on the scoreboard falling to the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 4-1 in Alaska Baseball League play on Thursday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

The Oilers and Chinooks each recorded six hits; however, the locals left 11 runners on base and twice failed to score after loading the bases.

The Chinooks for the second-straight night attacked early and often against Oilers pitching. A run in the second and a pair of runs in the fourth against Oilers starter Jake Fenn chased the right-hander after four innings, with the Chinooks leading 3-0.

The Chinooks added a fourth run in the fifth inning against Oilers reliever Jake Adams to go up 4-0.

Trailing 4-0 in the eighth, the Oilers got the leadoff man on base after a two-base fielding error on Chinooks center fielder Brandon Cody allowed Giancarlo Servin to reach second base. Servin was brought home on a two-out pinch-hit RBI single by Bobby Goodloe.

The Oilers twice in the game left the bases loaded, and twice had runners in scoring position with less than two outs, however, were unable to score a run.

The loss for the Oilers drops them to (2-5), last in the Alaska Baseball League while Chinooks (3-4), sit fourth in the league standings.
