The Peninsula Oilers produced a first-inning home run and a 2-1 lead through five innings against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Wednesday in the ABL season-opener for the Oilers; however, the Pilots recorded eight runs in their final three innings for a 9-2 Alaska Baseball League victory for the Pilots.
The Peninsula Oilers opened an eight-game road swing through the ABL with a two-run, five-hit effort against the Glacier Pilots. The Pilots scored nine runs on 12 base hits and retired the Oilers in order in the final three innings.
John Olmstead opened with a first-inning, first-batter home run and Henry Noviki drove-in Taylor Johnson in the fifth inning. Oilers’ starter Luke Yacinich tossed five innings and allowed only one run on four hits.
