Oilers Drop Pair To Miners: Doubleheader Again Tuesday

The scoring woes for the Peninsula Oilers continued on Monday with the Oilers generating only one run in 14 innings; as the Peninsula Oilers fell 3-1 and 4-0 to the Mat-Su Miners.

 

Doubleheader baseball is on the schedule for Tuesday, June 22nd with the Oilers and Miners returning to Coral Seymour Memorial Park for two games with game one scheduled for 5 p.m.

 

Monday Game Recap

Miners 3 – Oilers 1  Game One

The Oilers managed one run on just two hits aa the Mat-Su Miners collected three runs on seven hits.  The Miners scored single runs in the second, third and seventh innings while the Oilers scored Henry Noviki in the fourth inning with an RBI by Bryce Marsh.

Miners 4 – Oilers 0   Game Two

Mat-Su starting pitcher Will Johnston recorded a complete game (7 innings) and struck-out 11 Oilers batters to record a 4-0 victory.  Johnston recorded six-straight strikeouts, including striking out the side in the Oilers sixth inning. The Oilers managed only three hits.
