In-spite-of a 12 strikeout combined effort by Oilers pitchers, the Peninsula Oilers fell 4-1 to the Anchorage Bucs in game one of a five-game series at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

Bucs 4 – Oilers 1

Run scoring continues to be an issue with the Oilers as they managed only a single run on six hits and left eight on base; unable to give run-support to a solid pitching effort.

The Bucs scored two runs in the first inning and added single runs in the 7th and 8th innings.

The Oilers scored Johnny Olmstead on an Andrew Sojka RBI single in the second inning.

Oilers pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts on the night, including Lee Atkinson’s seven strikeouts in four innings and closer Moss Hayes, from Homer, recording three strikeouts while facing only four hitters.

The Oilers face the Anchorage Bucs on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  Sunday’s game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch.
